Staying grounded through the seasons.

“Autumn carries more gold in it’s pocket than all the other seasons.”⁣
⁣-Jim Bishop⁣

Soaking up as much of this season as I can. The colours, the smells, the sound of the wind and leaves crunching under my feet, it’s all feeding my soul! We are in month eight of this pandemic and all the changes that have come with it. I don’t know how time is flying by, but one thing that has kept me grounded in this whole experience is noticing where I am in a moment and just being there. Taking time to pause and feel.⁣

⁣🌸 Spring was a whirlwind. It felt chaotic and stressful. Work, relationships and life in general shifted. My busy routine, like many others, came to a quick stop and I needed to adjust. What I found helpful was sitting outside, closing my eyes, and just listening to all the sounds around me. Noticing where my head and heart were at in those moments.

⁣☀️ Summer brought more opportunities to be outdoors, and with that came spending time with friends and family again. What I found helpful in this season was to notice the warmth of the sun on my skin and a breeze that would follow to give me a quick break from the heat. Again, helping me to connect to that moment. ⁣

⁣🍁 Now we’re here mid October and I find myself lost in all that I can take in. I know it will be over before I want it to be so here is what has been helping me stay grounded: ⁣
⁣⁣
⁣• Noticing my feet as they step, and move across the ground when I’m outdoors. ⁣
⁣• Admiring all the colours of the leaves, pumpkins, corn fields, blue skies -the list goes on and on.
⁣• Taking deep belly breaths when I’m outside.⁣
⁣• Smelling all the fall smells.⁣
⁣• Savouring each sip of hot tea or pumpkin spice anything. ⁣
⁣• Feeling that cool autumn breeze in the morning and warm sun in the afternoon. ⁣
⁣• Experiencing all the different feelings that have been coming up. Noticing them, and not judging them.⁣

So what have you been doing to ground yourself lately? What tips would you give to your best friend to help them be in a moment? What season do you connect the most with?⁣
