What have you been doing to relax, recharge and re-energize?

⁣⁣
⁣Hello everyone! It has been forever since I’ve been able to post! I have a good excuse though.. I was away for two weeks up in Muskoka, a much needed vacation away from the city. While I was away I felt so calm and at peace. I had little access to any internet and it felt really good to disconnect from home and unplug from social media. ⁣⁣

Muskoka is a very special place for me. As a child my family rented a cottage up there with my cousins and my oma and it was the highlight of every summer. When I turned 17, the people we rented from decided not to keep their cottage as a rental anymore and I was heartbroken! Fast forward 14 years to 2017, when a group of friends and I went on a cottage hunt and found the perfect spot to vacay in Lake of Bays and we have been going there ever since. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣For me my relaxation starts on the drive up. I love when the scenery changes to those iconic Muskoka rocks, the windy roads and all the lakes you see along the way. The drive up is the perfect transition from fast city life to slow vacay mode.⁣⁣

Paddle Boarding around the lake

⁣⁣Being by the water is my go to (it’s the pisces in me). Whether I am lounging by a pool, sitting on a beach or paddling around a lake, water is how I recharge my battery. This probably comes from spending time at Point Pelee, being at the cottage or even the times my dad would take me fishing as a kid. In the last few years I’ve really enjoyed kayaking (got my own this summer!) and paddle boarding, but I love just sitting on a dock, feeling it rock from the waves, listening to the water splashing and everything that nature has to offer in those quiet, restful moments. ⁣⁣

Loving my new kayak!

As summer slowly comes to an end, I’ve been reflecting on the things that have helped me to relax during this strange, Covid, summer:⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣• Time with family, friends, my dog ⁣⁣
⁣⁣• Kayaking and paddle boarding⁣⁣
⁣⁣• Swimming⁣⁣
⁣⁣• Meditating outside⁣⁣
⁣⁣• Reading books that have nothing to do with relationships or sex -or do they? Come on, I was at a cottage!⁣⁣
⁣• Sitting by the fire⁣
⁣• Listening to music

As much as I’ve loved slowing down to be present in all those activities and really soak them in, those moments have helped to re-energize me for a new season, to focus on my practice and my clients, and has also given me lots of ideas on things I want to post on here!

So, before we say goodbye to summer and hello to what September has to offer, here are some questions I’d like to leave you with:

• Have you had a chance to get away or unplug this summer?
• What have you been doing to relax or recharge?
• What are you feeling re-energized for?
• What do you need to slow down?
